WELCOME TO THE HOME OF VINEYARD LITTLE LEAGUE! We are located in the city of Rancho Cucamonga and are apart of District 71 since 2007.  The Vineyard Little League Program is a nonprofit organization interested in building leadership, learning skills, teamwork and discipline.  We take pride in bringing together boys and girls from Rancho Cucamonga to learn important life lessons thru  playing organized baseball. We encourage good sportsmanship, respect for our community and others, strong team unity, and are focused on keeping youth sports in its proper perspective. All our volunteers are dedicated to making your child's experience a positive one. President Chris Jerrold and The Board of Directors welcome all players, parents and fans. We hope that you find this website useful!

Vineyard Little League Families,

First off, I hope this message finds your families safe, healthy, and happy.  Times like these remind us of what is really important and while we have all been eager to get our children back into sports, we know this is second to the well-being of our loved ones.  Over the last couple of months you have provided feedback to your team Managers regarding participation in the possible resumption of our season and have posed some great questions/concerns, all of which have been instrumental and carefully considered in Board discussions.  We thank you for taking the time to provide this information.

Last week the County of San Bernardino issued guidance for youth sports that is set up in three phases.  In a nutshell, Phase 1 is practices with no audience, Phase 2 is games with no audience, and Phase 3 is games with audiences.  Each phase comes with strict requirements and extensive oversight.  We are currently in Phase 1 and we have no timetable from the County for moves into Phases 2 and 3.  Additionally, we have been notified by the City of Rancho Cucamonga that school fields are still not available for use, which complicates matters further for us as Etiwanda Intermediate School is home to our fields.

As a Board we came together this week to carefully review guidance from our Little League District, your feedback, and County guidelines, and have made the extremely difficult decision to cancel the Spring 2020 season.  We realize this will be unwelcome news for many players, but with the uncertainty that continues to surround Covid-19 and its impact on our overall health and ability to play games, we feel this is the best decision at this time for our Vineyard Little League Families.  Our next step will be to begin preparing for Winter Ball 2020 and Spring 2021 in hopes that we will be allowed to return to normal play by the time these seasons are ready to commence.

As a Not-For-Profit Organization, registration fees each year are determined based on the anticipated funds needed to operate the upcoming season.  As you may know, a large portion of expenses for the league are incurred prior to the season for uniforms, awards, field preparation, and the like.  After considering expenses already incurred, a $35.00 per player refund is available for those who wish to request it.  To make a request, go to www.vineyardll.org, click on “Refund Request Form”, and complete the required information.  This option will be available from Saturday, June 27ththrough Friday, July 10th, after which refunds will no longer be available.

Additionally, if you paid the $100 per player snack bar buyout, this will be automatically refunded to you.  Any/all refunds will be credited to the card you used to complete your child’s registration and SportsEngine has indicated a processing time of 2 – 4 weeks after July 10th.

Lastly, yearbook production is under way and once they are completed, your team Managers will coordinate delivery to you along with your players medal.

This is an interesting time in our Nation’s history to say the least, and with no blueprint to offer guidance, the volunteer leaders at Little League International, our local District, and the VLL Board have been working tirelessly behind the scenes in an attempt to get our players back on baseball diamonds across America.  While things did not work out the way we hoped for the Spring 2020 season at Vineyard Little League, we rest well in knowing that we all have many memories to look forward to in future seasons, as well as special memories to recount as we reflect on seasons past.

A lot went into our short season and I want to thank the players for your smiles and great effort, parents for your commitment to your players and the league, and Board Members for your sacrificial efforts in providing a league where so many special moments are made.

Brighter days are ahead for Little League Baseball, so for now, we wish you all good health and incredible summers!

Thank you,

Chris Jerrold
